Newsletter #5
I hope all of you had a safe and fun filled Halloween weekend. And now that you're back to the grind and over the sugar high from all that candy, how about some exciting news from the Amazing Authors Showcase? Hard to believe this is only the beginning of our fourth month, isn't it? Stick around--there's lots more to come yet, and it's going to be one heck of a ride!
For you newcomers, thanks for dropping by or joining our mailing list. With nearly fifteen thousand hits on the site, the Amazing Authors Showcase is rapidly becoming THE place to visit for quality fiction. That exposure, like everything else on the Amazing Authors site, is about to get a whole LOT bigger, too.
We now have a truly representative cross section of all kinds of writers, editors and journalists who've joined our ranks to bring their stories to our site for web-wide reading pleasure. The cost of admission is still the same, though. That's right: Zip, Zero, Nada! (Yep, that means everything we bring to you on the site is a freebie, so please forward this newsletter and links to the site to all your online buddies.)
All we ask of our readers is to tell the web about us. Tell your friends about the site, including your "real world" buddies, or send them the following url so they can come to visit. The url for Amazing Authors is:
http://members.aol.com/df4pepper/writers.html
We've added some exciting new writers to the Showcase since the last issue. Drop by their pages and leave a note in the guest books, or send them an email and let these folks know you read their stories. For many of our writers, this is their first big exposure to the world, so give them some positive feedback. Writing is an evolutionary process, and now YOU, the readers, can be a direct part of that evolution. Join in. You'll have a good time, and provide a real service to the writers.
NOVEMBER'S FEATURED AUTHOR: John Patrick Schmitz
When John first opened Charles Schulz' PEANUT'S TREASURY, he began his life-long love affair with the written word. When he was thirteen, a family friend gave him A PRINCESS OF MARS, and this kindled a passion for speculative fiction that drives him to this day.
John has written about a hundred songs, and still dabbles in song writing. After several attempts at a novel, he penned TITANSTOMPER, a heroic fantasy adventure. John is currently working on a collection of science fiction stories and has plans for a sequel to TITANSTOMPER. He is also the founder and webmaster of the online speculative fiction magazine, "The Door To Worlds Imagined" which can be found through the link provided on his new author page.
OTHER NEW AUTHORS:
MARGERY CASARES grew up in Minden, LA where she has retired to write. Her first novel, A BLOSSOM FELL, was published by Petals of Life. A second novel, SONG OF INNOCENCE has just been released by Avid Press. A third novel, WHITE AZALEAS by New Concepts, is due out in November, as is a fourth, STALEMATE by The Fiction Works.
CHENIN CAMILLE is an 18 years old writer who lives in Austin Texas. She is an aspiring author with her main emphasis in Theater Arts. Chenin eventually hopes to own her own theater, where she can write, publish, and direct plays, as well as act in them. Chenin wants very much to have a composition of her poetry published, and eventually a series of novels.
QUICKIES OF THE WEEK:
Forty centuries ago, the Chinese started making it out of yak milk and spiced rice. In England sometime later, Charles I decreed that it be served only at the royal table. And Dolley Madison served "a large, shining dome" of it at her husband's second inaugural ball. What are we talking about? Why, ice cream, or course!
Did you know that kids ages 2-12 and adults over 45 eat the most ice cream per person? Source: The International Ice Cream Association
A good trivia question for your next chat room bout: "What's a commonly used English word that uses all six major vowels IN ORDER?" Answer: fascetiously.
