Newsletter #4
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, everyone! We hope your day was as much fun as ours was here at the Amazing Authors Showcase.
All of us at the Showcase would like to say ‘thank you’ one more time for your support in the recent (and very successful) Preditors & Editors polling. We also want to say thanks for the outpouring of follow up mail with your congratulations on our achievements at the polls. That means a great deal to us.
Some of your comments have been included in this brief newsletter, just to provide a sample of what we received from all across the world wide web. Believe me, that helps make the long hours of preparation and effort this ezine requires worthwhile. Knowing that you care about the ezine is one thing, but ‘hearing’ it from you in the form of emails is icing on the cake for our entire volunteer organization.
There have been some important developments in the area of additional publishing exposure as a result of our placements in the polls, too. Pepper Raines’ first place short story, Santa Was A Trucker, automatically qualified for the Eternity Best of the Web competition, and will be included in an online anthology produced by Eternity. Jon Baxley’s first place novel The Scythian Stone and B. Colin Cubbage’s top ten novel The Pit have both been requested for review by major print publishers (details when they are available). And our own little ezine’s first place finish among fiction zines has garnered several nominations in the Eternity Best of the Web voting as well. Voting in that competition has been extended until March 15th, and you can participate at this location:

For those of you not tuned in to web competitions and such, these are very prestigious accolades and nominations for a relatively new ezine. That proves that we are bringing to the web the quality material discriminating web readers want to see. It also brings a HUGE influx of ‘hits’ to the site (12,000 the first night after the awards were announced) and that, in turn, means more people are seeing the work of our authors. And THAT, boys and girls, is JOB ONE for the Amazing Authors Showcase. It works, too, just in case you hadn’t noticed.
Okay, so much for the shameless self promotion we are getting so good at. On to the rest of the news. Feel free to distribute the information in this newsletter to your friends and online buddies, but if you use anything out of this material, the ezine, or off the Showcase, please properly credit it to us or the original author. And always include the url for the Showcase in your mail to friends on the web.

Congratulations on your win as the author of the Best Short Story in the P&E Poll. As a winner, your story automatically qualifies for the Best of the Web Contest and Anthology. I need your snail mail address to send you additional info on the project and a contract for the anthology.

THE BOTTOM LINES:
If any of you are interested in becoming a part of the Showcase’s all volunteer staff, please let us know. We are getting more email, more submissions and more requests for ebook reviews than ever before. This requires a lot of time and effort to process.
In the coming months, we will need book reviewers to evaluate and write short reviews on the newest, hottest ebooks coming down the epubbed pipeline. Normally, reviewers will receive free copies of ebooks, either in the form of CDs directly from the authors or publishers, or they will be allowed to download stories at no charge. This is a great way to build a library of the finest epubbed books available today. Reviewers will also have the opportunity to submit their reviews to a master web content provider for possible sale or distribution to a paying audience estimated to be in the millions.
This is a great opportunity for aspiring ezine writers to take the plunge and get that first byline either as a reviewer, column writer, or contributor to the Amazing Authors Ezine. Please let us know what you would like to contribute, or if you are interested in any of the volunteer staff positions.
If you have news of your own writing exploits or something you think might be of value to the ezine readership, please send the information to AmazingAuthors@aol.com. The next edition of the ezine will be posted around the first of March. Until then, we wish you great success in your writing and creative efforts.
