OCTOBER'S FEATURED AUTHOR:
B. Colin Cubbage (BCW Cubbage@aol.com)
From her childhood home in Central Kentucky where she studied by kerosene lamps, B. Colin Cubbage traveled the world in route to her current retirement home in Colorado Springs where she lives with her husband Mike and two dogs.
Cubbage's debut book, THE PIT, available in electronic format from Cloudy Mountain Books, is an example of the change taking place in publishing due to the influence of the internet. Being a part of that change doesn't seem to intimidate this petite, red-haired grandmother at all.
She tells of spending a night in a Denver hotel room with nothing to watch on television and no nearby book store to satisfy her need to read. "Electronic books won't replace traditional printed volumes but will become an extension of the publishing industry. With internet access and electronic publishing you can enter a book store twenty four hours a day and exit with something to read."
According to Cubbage, THE PIT is classic pulp fiction meant to entertain the reader. She's short changing herself in that assessment of a book that takes a hard look at the cruel sport of dog fighting. Illegal in the United States, dog fighting continues to be a "big money" activity although attendance is a federal offense.
When asked where she goes from here, Cubbage stated without hesitation, "There are two books planned for character Kevin Drury and two others ready for publication. I've been writing a long time."
Reviews of THE PIT:
This fast action adventure novel is a real eye opener for both animal lovers and adventure seekers. The author weaves an interesting web of intrigue involving one of the little known 'sporting events' in America. It will capture the heart of every pet owner that has the courage to read this novel. A must read for the true seeker of adventure and all those concerned about animal rights. --Jim Grzych
Cubbage writes with an expertise and intensity that shuts out all except the written page. Don't have anything cooking on the stove when you read The Pit! --M E Morris, author of THE SAND CRABS, BIO STRIKE, LAST KAMIKAZE, STEALTH, and NORMAN H. SCHWARZKOPF: ROAD TO VICTORY
