Robin C. Westmiller
Author, Editor, Journalist
Robin
Cohen Westmiller decided to become a journalist when she discovered that
showing a "Press Pass" gave her access to areas and people that others never
get to see. During her freshman year at the University of Missouri-Columbia,
she fell in love with the college's radio station and changed majors, schools,
and careers. At Syracuse University, she worked at several radio stations
including WELV in her hometown of Ellenville, New York.
Changing her on air name to "Julie Russell" she produced and starred on her own weekend program. After moving to California, Robin pursued a broadcasting career, met her future husband Bill and got married. Robin put much of her time and energy into raising a family for the next five years until a tragic accident took the life of her best friend, Mary Ellen Grable.
To help work through the grief of losing her friend, Robin combined her writing skills and radio industry background to create the novel RED WINE FOR BREAKFAST a fictional story about the volatile world of a Los Angeles radio station. She has also written for "The Writers Connection" and "Westlake Magazine", been a guest columnist for the Glendale Newspress, Thousand Oaks Star and Los Angeles Times and appeared as a guest on KCLU's "Connections" program.
Robin has also led workshops on finding a literary agent for Creative Options and marketing on the Internet for the Santa Barbara Writers Conference. She is currently the newsletter editor of the Ventura County Writers Club and a member of the National Writers Union and the National League of American Pen Women.
