Philisophical Taoism is the idea that all things must be in balance. Like the yin and the yang, good and evil would not be significant without the other. In this way, we must make sure that good is not unproportionate to evil, both have a natural purpose in the world and contribute as so. I would also like to put another question up for discussion. In his book The Tao is Silent, Smullyen says that the Tao is good, but not moral. I take this to mean that with the inner peace taught by Taoism, morals are inherent, and they come naturally without thought. Laotse said that the moral battle simply clouds the mind, and that with the clarity of mind comes love for all people and morals would not be a thought but a natural reaction. Any thoughts?
