: I was wondering whether anyones knows an economic reason why in the elections of 2000 in peru Vladimiro Montesinos needed to bribe only 10 seats to get power but ended up bribing 17, 5 to spy on the oppostion and 2 to switch sdies so that the current regime can come back into power.The reasons i am looking for has do to with industiral organisations, i was thinking on the line of quasi rents or maybe managerial issues. Vladimiro before the elections had bribed politicians, judges , tv , media etc.. Asume that the people he bribed will not go back on the bribe.
