: My husband and I bought a truck this past weekend. We had given the seller a $400 deposit to take it to my father in law's house to have it inspected. While we were there, my husband called them to see if they had emissions paperwork stating that it had recently been done. She said yes that her uncle who was selling the truck had those papers and that yes it did go through emissions sucessfully. The next morning I called to make sure that her uncle would be there with the paperwork. When we went to meet them, he wasn't there. She said he couldn't make it. I told her that we HAD to have the paperwork the next day and she agreed. We paid them the rest of the $1400 for the truck. Since then, they have avoided our phone calls and won't produce the paperwork. We also have a written contract saying they would give us a CD player/radio for the truck. We still haven't gotten either the paperwork or the radio. Can we go off of a verbal agreement with them? Can we use my father in law for a witness? Can we sue for the repairs to sucessfully go through emissions? Will it all stand up in court? Thank you for your time.
