: : : the unexamined life is not worth living, what did socrates mean by this comment ?
: : Seems to me: The overexamined life is pretty tedious for the bystanders (unless the examinee is brilliant). Self-examination is fine as long as you keep it to yourself.
What Socrates meant was that "life is full of opportunities, events, places, etc that man should take advantage of rather than just sit by day after day and look out the window. Why does one climb the mountain? Because its there! Read, study, vacation to far off places, etc. I have had one quasi-military career and one military career and I'm definately a Type A. Any comments?
