: The whole idea behind Huis Clos is that hell is other people. Garcin, Inez, and Estelle were put together because each one is the r for the other. Estelle is what Inez can never have, Garcin is a man and Inez hates men, and Inez keeps Garcin from being able to love Estelle, which bothers Estelle because she needs the attention of a man. Well i hope that helped a bit!
