THey may well reject it on the ground that such pointers can never deal with the dynamic reality of its existence. Thus even if the majority might reject will the city cease to exist? The rejection or insistence of solid proof as demanded by scientists when it comes to existence of GOD is also somewhat like this."
My objection still stands.
Maps, photos, and memories are useful. They can be coherently *ssembled into a body of knowledge that lets me function in a city. I can never comprehend all of New York City at once, but if I know just a little bit from a photograph, that enables me to walk down the street and learn something else about the city. One small pointer allows me to believe, act, and experience more pieces of the the larger, dynamic whole.
Statements about God, on the other hand, are not at all useful. Unlike a city or any other earthly thing, God cannot be experienced. One cannot "map" or in any way usefully refer to something that one cannot experience. "God is love" or "people will be judged in the end times" are not pointers to anything that can be experienced. Statements about God therefore cannot be confirmed in the same way that the integrity of a map can be confirmed (by checking out the city for oneself). What good does God-talk do?
