Hi! Skeptic,
Your lively reply probably tells more than what I could. I rather like your conviction about the existence of New York. You describe it with such conviction as someone tasting sugar firsthand could describe its sweetness.
However, the fact remains that any amount of words, descriptions, paper clips, maps, photos, video or audio clips would never be able to capture what is implied by a mere word "New York", in its entirety. Hence for someone, far far away from New York, the basic faith in words uttered by someone like you, will have to be the starting point. Even if the majority of world population may reject the existence of New York, just because words and expressions are certainly inadequate to describe something of a dynamic nature,it will not matter. New York will continue to exist for sure. I had clarified myself that it may not be an ideal example to describe the dynamic reality of GOD, but it gives the general idea.
Quoting from Kant or other thinkers is like describing the sweetness of sugar without ever tasting it. It is all secondhand knowledge only.
Such acquired knowledge gives one a sense of power and position. They also become hurdles if one is not careful and opt to lose the virtue of humility, innocence and sense of wonder, which we all had in our own childhood. Unless "unlearning" takes place, the processing mind will always obscure one's vision and our notions will always cause distortion and coloration of our perceptions.
A still mind without any processing is what is required to glimpse what is, as mind is always dealing with dead knowledge - projecting what is known constantly essing and interpreting or extrapolating into future, creating a secured feeling of continuity. It can never deal with what "is"
Your expression makes it appear as if you think GOD can only be referring to a person only.
It can well be person, persons, places, the entire cosmos, all put together - who knows? Whatever it is, it appears to be a "dynamic principle" is what I intended to convey.
Regards,
