I'm guessing that a few people would think nihilism presents a fairly bleak view of life and existence, in that existence is pointless, unproveable, and so on. Obviously, a complete nihilist would not be phased by this, because they admit that all opinions are ultimately unfounded. But I haven't met many people who are willing to give up all the opinions and biases that constitute their personality. So, us quasi-nihilists are left having to live in the bleak 'reality'. A few ago I consiously made the decision to push all philosophical thoughts out of my head and live life the way that the majority of society does. After a while I just naturally didn't think about anything metaphysical. It worked to some extent. Reality wasn't so questionable. But after a few years, inevitably, my mind wandered back to contemplating pointless questions that make life a lot less fun. So, does anyone agree that we'd be better off to have never discovered nihilism? Isn't it more fun to not think about how pointless our existence is, and at least pretend we have purpose? Who thinks ignorance is bliss?
