Karl Jaspers would never have put down science to raise up philosophy. He even taught that every philosopher should be proficient in at least one science to understand the method. He was also one of the great defenders of the rational against the irrational. With his existenz philosophy, Jaspers saught to give humans in the modern world a way to know where they came from, where they might be going, and how possibility is the ground of our being. While he would never cast down the great scientists, he would also warn people to take care with how they are toward science lest they unknowingly turn it into a thoughtless religious dogma.
: This is really pesimistic nonsense. No one thinks this way. If it was for Hegel and Sartre we would understand nothing about the world. Philosophy is bunk, science rules. Einstein, newton, galileo these are the real people who have advanced the world.
