I built a wooned base for the bed of the truck. I went to the hardware store and got 2 metal gates like teh kind that are on fences.
I attached teh gates to the wooden frame in the front and rear of the bed. They measure 3'X4', so that's perfect.
Develop a bracing system to keep the rack upright.

: : : Last year, I bought the Backrack for my open-bed Chevy S-10. It is quick and easy, and works great. I paid about $400. for the Backrack, a Yakima half-rack for above my cab, 4 canoe yokes, and all the tie-down straps.
: On my Ford Ranger I installed (VERY EASY TO DO) a fold down rack from Rail-N-Rack. I LOVE it.
