One is tempted to answer with a cute remark that includes the word "askance," but do you mean how did Hemingway, the individual person, view women,
or do you mean haw did Hemingway, the author, portray women in his writing?

If the former, he pretty much respected women for what they were and what they had acomplished. For example, he respected Malene Deitrich as an actress and for the work she did to raise money for the USO during the 2nd world war. And he respected Isak Dinnison as a writer.

If the latter, Hemingway wrote novels and short stories because he wanted to convey to the reader his impressions of life and life's expiriences. So he portreyed women, and men for that matter, so as to demonstrate this. He didn't "view women" in any one particlar manner. He used the character of specific women in his writing to convey an idea.
