As near as I can determine, there have been two occasions of secret military trials of civilians in this country.
First, after the ination of President Lincoln of the "consprators".
This was relied on as a precedent by President Roosevelt and his Attorney General in the secret military trial of the eight German saboteurs who were landed on US shores in June of 1942. Six were executed under Roosevelts personal order, 3 months later.
Can anyone tell me if there is any statutory allowance in the Federal Code for trial of civilians by military court, and in particular to conduct the procedings in secret?
