: : I have to do a paper giving an explication of Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock". I also have to discuss the three part "movement" in the poem, and explain the nature of Prufrock's "problem". Please help....
Veronica,
I read the responses that you have already received and I am writing the same paper. I have a couple of things that might help.
The poem is about a middle aged man that is suffering from low self-esteem and spends most of his time second guessing himself. He references the cat hanging outside the window to express how he feels. Like an observer at this party and really does not fit in. He is constantly worried about how other people see him.
I decided to write my explication on the psychological disposition of the character and how it effects the way he interacts with those around him. Can't help with the 3 stages have not got that far.
hope it helps
