Thomas Becket is probably one of the most famous Christian martyr found outside the Bible. In the struggle between the will of the church and the will of the state he stood firmly behind his beliefs. The fact that he was killed inside the actual cathedral, a place that is not only holy but also considered a sanctuary from the law, made his murder all the more deplorable.
