Good point - he wouldn't have had the time.

I started to reply that Wagner divided his time between composing music and writing his lengthy political and racial tracts. But this doesn't mean that Hitler could have divided his time in a similar way. Also had Hitler fulfilled his dream of being a great artist or architect, he wouldn't have had the need to conquer the world politically.

But still it is interesting to contemplate - could one listen to great music by a man responsible for the deaths of 25 million people.

And how responsible WAS Wagner for Hitler - who idolized him, and for whom he was the perfect artist and one of the three greatest Germans, the other two being Frederick the Great and Bismarck.

As an aside, I wish Wagner had composed more and written less of those tracts. I would like to have another 5 or 6 his operas to experience!
