The only thing that I can think of is that Mussorgsky
was part of the 'Russian five' and his style was
the roughest of them all. His original version of
Pictures at an Exhibition was 'touched up' by Rimsky
Korsikov. The version that almost everyone knows is
not the original version. So, the re-orchestrated version
that the person could be refering to could be the original
version that Mussorgsky had intended in the first place.
I must say, I perfer Mussorgskies original version
to the smoother and more polished Korsiokv version so if
it is, your in for a treat.
: A little while ago I watched a program on Dutch
: t.v. where it mentioned that Pictures in an
: Exhibition would shortly be re-orchestrated in a
: Russian style . Does anybody out there have any
: information on this ? Please let me know and many
: thanks in advance .
