Michail Tushmalov was born in 1861, worked in Warsaw and Riflis as an opera conductor and died in 1896 in what is now Georgia. The first performance, on Nov. 30,1891 of this orchestration was conducted by Rimski-Korsakov in St. Petersburg. Tushmalov's version omits many of the original piano pieces, and is dark, and restrained. The only recording I know of of this version was recorded in 1974 with Marc Andreae conducting the Munich Philharmonic on Acanta label...I do have this recording.
