I think that the two operas that stand out above the others are Hippolyte et Aricie and Castor et Pollux. These are especially good, it seems to me, because they are dramatically, as well as musically, strong. I have heard quite a few of the other large-scale works, but none of them is quite a satisfying. Of course, it could be that a stunning performance of, say, Zoroastre would make me change my mind (I haven't heard the new recording).
