I am a mahler fan (MAHLER ROCKS!) but i dont dare profess i know alot about mahler symphonies. But i do know that Mahler wrote the 2nd symphony "Resurrection" as a follow-up to the 1st symphony "Titan". the first movement is a funeral march. However, i do know that mahler seemed to find some problems writing the next 4 movements, and he found the 2nd movt "too happy" so he demanded a minimum of 5 minutes in between the 1st and 2nd movement. however that practice is not observed very frequently these days. but both of them being early symphonies (the first 2 in fact) they bear significance and resemblance to mahler's own life himself.
