I'll take you at face value Tommy and communicate an opinion of FL's music. The reason you don't see the pion in the posts is because his music seldom inpires on a visceral level -- he had plenty of good ideas but was incapable putting them together in a coherent way. A shining example: the sonata--it's like a bunch of diamonds thrown in a toilet bowl.
Liszt's pion wasn't music, it was himself. You want real commitment check out guys like Wolfgang,Robert S., Ludwig, Chopin, Scriabin or even K. Cobain. These guys didn't hang around for long because their art was a fever--burned them from the inside out.
Pianists ohh and ah about the technical requirements of a piece like, say the Hungarian Rhapsody #2, and tend to forget that musically it belongs in a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
p.s. Tommy --I know and appreciate what you were getting at in your post, so I hope you take this as a little tongue in cheek--it's intended as such. If nothing else it might fire up some pion in the board
