I know this is truly a masterpiece, therefor you should listen to the version that Sarah Brightman sings on her album "La Luna". Though the lirics have been changed to "Solo Con Te" this is one of my favourite versions of "Dank sei dir Herr".
On the Sarah Brightman liricspage by Jos van Geffen this song gets detaily explained:

: Some years ago I sang a piece in German called Thanks be to God, or Dank zei Der Herr and I rememebr it was either by Hayden or Handel. I've lost my music in a move and would like to find it again, but I'm not having any luck searching through various catalogs. Can anyone help?
