Skip Sempe also records it on his cd, Francois Couperin, Pieces de Clavecin (deutsche harmonia mundi), available in the U.S. But nothing approaches Oscar Ghiglia's Angel recording. I have long looked for a CD of Ghiglia's recording, made when he was teaching at UC Berkeley, but have been unable to find it. Does he not record at all?

: Oscar Ghighlia and Christopher Parkening have both recorded the Baricades on Angel. Ghighlia uses an edited version of a transcription for guitar by Alirio Diaz (in D), which I prefer; Parkening uses his own transcription (in C), and in his playing attempts to play the theme portion muted, to imitate the sound produced by harpsichord players. The Diaz transcription of this piece is one of my favorites to play on the guitar, in particular the ecstatic descent of the final variation, in which Couperin finds so many ways to express that simple three-note figure. The Baricades is worse than the most addictive drug: I just can't hear it or play it enough.
