: Just a few notes: The Hebrides are islands off northern Scotland, and Mendelssohn actually visited them. It's in orthodox sonata-allegro form, but neither the development nor the coda concern themselves with the second theme.
: Some commentators have said Mendelssohn was more Clic than Romantic. I would offer this overture as convincing evidence to the contrary: full of imagination and soul. And it's as difficult to play (I have played oboe in the orchestra for it) as almost anything by Beethoven.
I am looking for an organ transcript of the Hebrides Overture.
