: i need to know the date of the E major Andante commodo movement Kp 380 - anyone know it or how to find it out??
Well Kat, we'll probably never know that! You probably know why! The mcript collections were never written by Scarlatti's own hand(even more, not a single sonata by his own hand found up to our days)! The copyists marked the year, yes of course, for each volume of sonatas but we really can't be sure that it corresponds on the actual year where Scarlatti composed it(he could compose a sonata much earlier and a copyist put it in the volume much later...)!
However I can answer You that the K. 380 is in the Venice volume VIII(Parma volume X) and it is dated 1754!
Hope that can help You a little bit...
Marko
