: I was listening to a performance by Della Jones (at http://www.onlineclassics.com/Work.pasp?txtProductID=Della_Jones&txtCatalog=olc) who portrayed, in song, some of literature's great dramatic heroines (including Maria Stuart and Lady Macbeth). She got me wondering... other than the figures in the performance, what other heroines can be praised in song? In the classical or operatic sense, of course. -- Steve
