Summer Vocal Institute

Senior Division Institute (ages 18 and up)
The Institute is an intensive 10-day program designed for the professional and semi-professional singer in the classical and operatic fields. Each participant will receive:
Three private lessons
Three private coaching sessions
Private career counseling
Masterclasses and concerts
Workshops regarding career, voice, and life in the arts
Feldenkrais Instruction in a class format and in tandem with voice instruction
High School Division Institute (ages 15-17)
This division is an intensive 10-day program designed for the high school student who is seriously interested in pursuing a career in classical singing. Each student will receive:
Daily private lessons
Three private coaching sessions
Group sessions in career counseling, music history, sight-singing/ear-training, and diction
Attendance at Senior Division evening masterclasses, concerts as well as daily participation in Feldenkrais Instruction and Vocalise sessions

Classes will meet daily from 10:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. with additional masterclasses and concerts during the evenings. In addition to class work, each participant will perform in a final concert for faculty, fellow participants and guests from the community. The Institute will be held at the Mary Ann Heller Center for Austin Lyric Opera, 901 Barton Springs Road in Austin, TX.
HOUSING: We suggest housing through Homestead Suites located two blocks from the ALO offices at a rate of $40/night. Call (512)476-1818 to make your arrangements and be sure to mention you are with Austin Lyric Opera.
TO PARTICIPATE: Tuition for Senior Division participants is $1500, which includes individualized study as well as full participation in all of the institute's programs and events. Tuition for the High School Division is $700, which includes daily instruction as well as participation in other exciting and educational activities. Space is available for only fourteen (14) Senior Division participants and eight (8) High School Division Participants. A non-refundable $200 deposit (included in the $1500/$700 fee) is required to reserve your spot in the Summer Vocal Institute.

AUDIT: Special packages are available for those who would like to audit any or all of the Summer Vocal Institute programs and events. Complete Auditors Package $260 includes attendance to daily vocalization classes as well as all masterclasses and concerts. Vocalise Special $180 includes attendance to 9 daily vocalization classes. Master Class Special $80 includes attendance to 4 evening masterclasses Design Your Own $20 per session.
