It all depends what you mean by "know very well". Let me first validate myself: I'm not a musician, but do enjoy classical music. I've listened to Bruckner's music (and attended live concerts) for over 15 years now and have many CD's - over 100 CDs for sure (just on Bruckner alone), but i do not count.
I've never read Grammophone's review of Neuhold's Bruckner so i really cannot give my opinion. But, as for being "out of the ordinary and idiosyncratic" i do not agree. However, i do like the slightly faster tempo of his 1st and 3rd movements (than say Karajan's 1976 magisterial 4th on DG) of an otherwise fine interpretation and nothing out of the ordinary in my perceivable experience.
I hope Warren adds his insight on Neuhold's interpretation.
One final note: To be fair, my listening is done on a small, 3 watt mediocre, but adequate system and not on my "good" (moderately expensive) stereo system because lack of (proper) space for the time being.
