Gentlemen, Hats off to Naxos musical journey series on DVD. Here we have the stunning landscapes and rich cultures of Austria that inspired the sounds of Bruckner's famed Romantic symphony.
The Music is conducted by Günter Neuhold with the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra (also available on Naxos audio cd) is very well interpreted and played (tempo - slightly on the urgent side, but never hurried) recording is good, sounds better on DVD than CD somehow! Picture quality is of the highest order, first rate! (Georg Tintner's interpretation is no match)
This exceptional DVD is 67 minutes long (others in series typically run 55 min) takes you on a breathtaking tour of Bruckner's homeland - glorious Austria. "From quaint remote villages to the commanding opulence of great places; from the spiritual beauty of the great Monastery of St. Florian to castles perched above stunning landscapes. Bruckner's masterful symphony evokes the natural wonder of Austia and rich musical legacy that echoes to this day"
Beautiful scenes include: Vienna, Salzburg, Linz, Styria, Carinthia, Ansfelden and Austria.
this DVD is truly a treasure at $25 Cdn.
Guaranteed to inspire - everytime! Highest possible recommendation.
Don't miss it! (no, i'm not a Naxos rep.)
Hope Naxos plans on releasing (at least) other Bruckner symphonies for which his famous for in the public's eye - notably, his 7th, (8th, 9th? - how about ALL! hmmm.... maybe i'll take such bold venture myslef - anyone interested?)
