There has been some interest on this Forum (and others)in obtaining a bust of Anton Bruckner. On a recent trip to St Florian I finally found one at the gift shop in the Abbey complex. The bust is made from brown wax, stands about 5 inches high, and has a few gold 'highlights'. Overall, it's perfectly acceptable given the absence of anything else! It costs about 24 Euro (about 28 US dollars). The address is Chorherrenstift St Florian, Stiftstr. 1, A-4490 St Florian, Austria. There is a webpage for the Abbey http://www.stift-st-florian.at, though the shop doesn't appear to be mentioned there. I would expect that they would ship internationally.
I might mention that this is my second visit to St Florian (I sneak them in on business trips). St Florian really is a wonderful place to stay for a few days, thoroughly to be recommended. On this latest visit I walked to Ansfelden and back (17km round trip) along the Bruckner-Symphonie-Wanderweg, a hiking trail with 'stations' along the way, each of which gives some history about one of the symphonies. Don't miss it if you go to St Florian. Drop me an email if you would like information on how to get to St Florian, what to do and where to stay.
