This may not be surprising to some, but for those who are new and seeking a set of Bruckner symphonies to start with [regardless of price], i can tell you with confidence to look no further than the ARTE NOVA CLICS recordings! In this, you will not find just another set of Bruckner recordings, but one that is interpretativly refreshing in a refined way [if somewhat controlled on some brief occasions]. As we all know, a Bruckner symphony demands a not only a competent conductor [and a great orchestra], but one of distinction...such is Stanislaw Skrowaczewski and his outstanding Saarbrücken RSO forces, capable of delivering justice [power and beauty] to these symphonies without compromise - including recording. I say this after acquiring the F minor CD recently released and going through all his recordings again. Considering its bargain price leaves no room for doubt: as a set, it is as good as it gets - at least for quite some time to come and will take a 'miracle' to displace it! This message goes to Brucknerians alike... who like to hear fresh alternative interpretation of B symphonies. For those who have it, I'd like to hear your opinion as well. Thanks. -- Ara A.
