Warren, please forgive me, perhaps i shouldn't have used the word disappointed. Somehow, i had that feeling when you came away with "mixed review". Thanks for clarifying it. I agree with you that watching a DVD with scenery is preferable than watching a concert performance by itself (at least for those who've seen enough concerts - perhaps a bled of both) and that no producer of a DVD can hope to meet individual expectations. A subjective experience indeed! I've seen the Celibidache VHS tapes on sale quite some time ago (before i've heard of him) but never bought them. Now, i don't see them at all. Fortunately (as mentioned), DVD's are stating to appear - with his m in F minor.
I plan on getting a new computer (and a digital video camera) sometime later this year and like to fancy an experiment i've always wanted to produce: a Naxos program music DVD (the scenery will be a major issue of course).
While on this subject, as a side note....
I've shot a doentary film back in 1980 - a 30 min. interview of the remaning few survivors of the Armenian genocide back in 1915 (a very sensitive issue and an important one to me). I plan on digitizing the images from VHS tape (originally on Super 8 sound film) and mixing some music for added dimension or impact and plan on using some of Bruckner's music to produce a DVD disc. This will be a long project...
