Since I don't have a way of projecting, I must splash paint around and then step back and have a look.

You once told me you got some of your colors from those in the source.
With me the color is a MAJOR problem and that may be due to the fact that my early years were spent more with pencil and ink than bold colors.
I love color, as you know, but it is always quite difficult for me to use it.
Lacking any training in color theory or wheels, I just flail around until it "looks right".

I heard a sculptor give a talk recently, and he said that he had a famous artist in a cl he was teaching who also did professional sculpture.
While the teacher worked in a formal way with shapes leading to forms leading to detailed figures, the other fellow normally just flailed away until it "looked right".
It took him ages to finish a piece, and a great deal of effort and frustration.

The teacher showed him a few simple basic steps to join geometric forms to get the proportion right before the detailed work was begun.
The student was amazed at how easy it was and how quickly he could get it "right" and get on with the finish-up without all the trial and error he had been going through.

It occurred to me that I was that student the way I use color, and I have not found such a teacher yet.
