The life and work of Madame Guyon represents a powerful and missing element in the present quest for truth and meaning. The unification of aristotles particulars has presented difficulties to the catholic thinkers who have specifically accepted his dualistic model of the spiritual and the physical. Guyon who was imprisoned for her writing which was considered to have been influenced by the protestant reformers, was able to move past the problems faced by a distant God bringing about the mystical awareness of his presence. Only John Wesley was able to do more for religion in his removal of the 4th element of mysticism bringing about a form of the kerygma which allowed the adherant to experience the manifest Grace of God. He was however building on the foundation layed by the Mystics(madame Guyon)and of course the Moravians. That 4th element being the dark night of the soul; Wesley and the Evangelical gospel he preached are far removed from the current trends in religion often called easy beliveism..any comment
