: i remember reading one of edwards works in which he talks about the signs by which we might know someone is saved. a portion of it was given to yardsticks we could NOT use to determine whether someone was saved, and specifically he said that a person's backsliding into sin and error could not be taken as evidence that the person was not saved. He points to Peter as someone clearly saved who nevertheless sins time and time again. If anyone could give me the reference, I'd appreciate it.
