: i need to compare erasmus's praise of folly to what was considered the classical (normal) type of renissance writings, what were normal renissance writings about and how did his book compare to it,itd be nice if u could answer this as fast as possible

There were plenty of similarities, of course, and plenty of precursors. However, the thing that made it so sensational was the way it took on the powers that were. It made fun of priests, bishops, cardinals, kings, princes, merchants, bureaucrats -- just about everybody in sight. The sheer irreverence of it was astounding to the audience. They had a blast reading it. Moreover, it advanced ideas that were just bubbling under everybody's consciousness.
