: Back in the late 70's I bought a box of old books at a flea market. : Years later, I was reading one of them, O'Henry's "Roads of Destiny," 1909, and I discovered that the previous owner had left a handwritten message. : A small, hand-drawn arrow points to a raised bump inside the cover, and the words, "Even O'Henry wouldn't have believed the truth about this. A book that saved my life one night." : The only other writing is on the next page, what looks like, "Written '02, '09." : The front cover actually has a bullet hole down near the bottom edge. The damage goes into the book, visible on each page, lessening until it disappears near Page 50.
