However, I have seen facts that he had taken "mushrooms" at one point in his life, but again, there is no proof that it was at the time of his writing. The drug LSD has been said to be responsible for his unique imagination, but however, LSD was not even around in England during the 1800's.
Well boys and girls, LSD isnt the only psychoactive drug around, and i cant understand why people always "blame" LSD for anything psychedelic in movies etc.
Theres natural psychoactive herbs etc that has been used before the 1800's so...
He might have been using Salvia Divinorum, Ayahuasca, Mescaline or any other psychoactive drug that was around back then :)
