: i know that lewis carroll did opium through out his life. however i can not find it anywhere on the net. do you know any references where i could find anything on this subject matter?
i'm writing a paper about lewis carroll at the moment and have been doing research, on the net and at libraries. i haven't found text stating that carroll ever used drugs. not any text yet. i'm not done reading so i may stumble across something. i'm not quite sure the idea holds much water. he was, however, very pedophile-like. at the same time, there has also been no testimony of any misconduct with the children. my umption about the opium theory is this: i don't think he really used drugs at all. he was an amazing mathmatician and an insomniac. he invented lots of little gadgets and toys and games and riddles and such. he never married. he never had (supposedly, but how can we know, really?). he was obsessed with little girls and had a strange fascination with the concept of time. perhaps he was just trying to defy time and stay in his childhood by keeping his imagination vivid. but then, drugs would be an excellent way to do that........ let me know if you find anything out about the opium.
