I'm sorry, but your very mistaken. All of the "Wonderland" books were written under the influence of narcotics, and hallucinagenic mushrooms in particular. Carrol was an early advocate of them, holding up "Through the Looking Gl" as evidence of the sort of imaginative work possible because of them. Ten years later he wrote another work, entitled "Alice." If "Through the Looking Gl" was a good trip, this was a very bad trip. It is a very gruesome book, dealing with Alice going insane and Wonderland (which is in her imagination) collapsing in a most horrific manner. Shortly after this he died of ill-defined causes, speculated to be suicide.
