: Hey All! I heard that Lewis Carroll was insane and the stories Alice in Wonderland and Though the looking Gl were what he saw in his head. I interested in finding out about this,so if anyone has any websites or info, EMAIL ME!!
Interesting how one spreads rumors.
Actually, in several of the biographies[eg: Cohen] of Charles Dodgson
(Lewis Carroll) they tell the story of someone not knowing that Lewis
Carroll and Dodgson were one and the same.
The story goes that Dodgson was told, in strict confidence by a lady,
that it was well established that "Lewis Carroll was insane". He
(Dodgson) evidently made no reply, but I would bet that his reactions
included amusement.
At any rate, the rumor of insanity is over 130 years old.
Perhaps you could share the authoritative source that still circulates
this stuff.
