oops- i put opium in there (previous message) because it is very likely that he used it, though i incorrectly put it with the hallucinogens. though it does have similar mind-expanding effects it is technically a pain killer.
: LSD was invented/discovered by Dr. Albert Hoffman in 1938 and remained a rather unknown chemical until the late 1950's and, of course, the 1960's. Lewis Carroll lived 1832-1898, having written "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" in 1865. While obviously not having access to LSD, many believe he did take psilocybin mushrooms, opium, mescaline, morning glory seeds and other natural hallucinogens available at the time.
:
: : I have a question people have told me that Lewis Carroll the author of "Alice in Wonderland" was on acid; the drug, when filming "Alice in Wonderland." Just a question, I have been trying to look up statistics about, over the internet but haven't had much luck. I thought this would be the easiest way to find out if he was or wasn't. Much easier than going out and looking in a book store. Well, this question is not in need to offend any one just a question that crossed my mind...please write back soon! thank you again!
