Be sensititve to the mood/atmosphere of the book. : : : G summarize the main ideas in your own words. : : : 2 Interpretation (exegisis) : : : a Ask the why questions. : : : b Determine what it meant to the original readers. : : : c Becone a time traveler. Consider the historical context. : : : D what cirstance could have led to the writing of the book? : : : E What did the author wish to communicate to the reader of his day? : : : 3. Application (hermemneutics) How does it apply to me today? : : : a The goal of bible study. : : : b Determine the general principles that can be drawn from your study thus far. : : : c Ask yourself if there is an identical, comparable or different situatoion to which this principle may apply today. : : : D prayerfully meditate on these principals and consider: : : : 1 how do these truths apply to my life. : : : 2 what changes should I make in my life. : : : 3 how do I plan on carrying out these changes.
