Can you tell which has Peter Kreft written on the Ecclesiastes?
I am in accord with your concerns over the modernistic attempt at interpreting the book. Ecclesiastes is the closet the Jewish scripture ever came to openly express existentialism. It seems to parallel Buddhism in the problems both the 'Philosopher-king' and Prince Siddharta had to confront, but came up with radically different solution, one as you aptly put 'Godly hedonism', the other complete detachment from physical desires.
