I wrote a four page story about an old woman who remembers when she was d at 17. She was quiet and studious and an equally quiet boy d her on their first date. Right after he d her and fled, she ran outside and ended up finding solace through an emotional connection with a sick cow on her neighbor's farm. She'd noticed the cow before and all that good stuff. Her dad ended up shooting the guy and he was given the death sentence (this was back in the 40's in a small town). So, some guy told me it sounds just like WWTM. Does it? I've read a couple of JCO's short stories and we don't share writing styles but if the content is very similar I don't want to be thought of as a thief. I'm wanting to enter the story in a very short story contest but if you don't think I should then I won't. Email me if you would and let me know your thoughts Lynda_Mercer2@yahoo.com
