: Until recently I lived in Northern California not far from where Jean Auel's home is. It is common knowledge (there anyways) that the reason the last installment to the Ayla series has been so long in coming is that Ms. Auel has been working hard to battle an illness. My professor at the college I attended there is acquainted with her through a friend and explained this but did not say specifically what that illness was. Each time I p her books in my home I hope she is doing well.
