: Does anyone know why Ayla and Jondular couldn't have taken the SOUTHERN route around the glacier at the end of the book close to the Zelandonni. I have read and re-read both the sections when he comes across the glacier with Thonolan and when he goes back with Ayla and can't figure it out. They don't want to go NORTH because of the Clan but why don't they want to go SOUTH????? I've been puzzling over this far too long. But I truly love the books. Only fiction I've ever purchased short of books for a quarter at a used book store or yard sale. If anyone can find a book and chapter number and approximate location 1/2 way through chap. etc. I will be extremely grateful.
